Newspapers in Education (NIE) is a cooperative effort of newspapers working with local schools to encourage the use of the newspaper as a tool for instruction and to promote literacy.
The NIE program supports literacy and provides countless resources for not only area teachers but for the local community at large. Under the program, newspapers and local businesses
and residents sponsor newspapers--digital editions and print editions--for teachers to use in their classrooms. NIE teachers also receive curriculum ideas, teaching materials, special supplements,
newsletters, training opportunities and more. Your generous contributions make the Newspapers In Education program possible. The NIE program relies on donations from readers and
businesses to make the sponsored copies of the newspapers and the online material available to educators.
Consider making an individual donation to partner with us as we stand together to support the next generation of readers. A $100 donation covers one school-year of sponsored copies for a classroom.
Here is how you can support NIE and provide sponsored copies of the newspaepr and free educational resources for area classrooms.
There are various levels of sponsorship available. For more info, please contact the newspaper in your area.
